Video package | Campus squirrels

Are you going to eat that? Campus squirrels will.

(Mostly) everyone loves the campus squirrels, so we decided it was time to find out more about these cute critters. I investigated whether the food these squirrels eat is making them unhealthy. I will say, the squirrels were quite elusive when I was walking around and attempting to get footage, but with enough patience, I got what I needed. I also made the above rotator for my story!

Rotator | Cafe’s lack of sales

The Loft fails to meet lofty expectations, possible changes to come.

The above image is a rotator I created for reporter Baihly Warfield’s story about the Loft, a smoothie and specialty drink cafe in our new student center, and its lack of sales.

Rotator | Kony 2012 event

Kony 2012 event fails to move from Internet to campus.

The above image is a rotator I made for chief video editor Katherine Curtis’s story on the small on-campus turnout for Invisible Children’s “Kony 2012 Cover the Night” event.

Video package | Varsity crew team

St. Thomas varsity crew team rows into spring season.

This video package was probably the most adventurous story I have undertaken for TommieMedia. Since I was still learning video (and was shooting it with a DSLR for the first time), our video editor Katherine Curtis came along with me. We braved wind, rain, and a very early morning to get these shots, but I was really happy with the way it turned out! I also designed the above rotator for my package.

Rotator | Seminar on relationships

Campus seminar discusses what makes happy relationships.

This was my first bit of design work for TommieMedia. Rotators are the images in the top right-hand side of our homepage that tease our latest stories. I made this one for studio producer Carly Samuelson’s story on a seminar on relationships that was lead by professor and author of “What Happy Couples Do,” Dr. Carol Bruess.
